Caption: Lovely photo of a British-built Caterpillar D8K-66V series machine about to be delivered to the Walton Hill Landfill in Cheltenham. Even as late as the early 1980s, it was still possible to order a new Cat tractor with the ever reliable No.25 rear PCU. Note the lack of cab, ROPS and the horizontal placement of the muffler⁣

Caption: From a Caterpillar promotional brochure, a Caterpillar D8H-36A series machine equipped with an 8S blade and No.25 rear mounted PCU. Note that on the later cable-controlled versions of the D8H, the tube carrying the cable from rear to front went under the operator’s deck rather than on top of it. ⁣

Feast and McJorrow were a class act in their day and did not shy away from big machinery to get the job done⁣

Caption: New Zealand-based Caterpillar D8H-46A series of the Ministry of Works on a hydro project “somewhere in NZ”. This tractor is equipped with a cable-operated 8S blade and No.8 rear radial arc ripper. The PCU for the blade was a No.24, mounted on the front of the tractor.⁣
This is an early 235hp machine as evidenced by the smaller diameter exhaust pipe. ⁣

This machine was being used by Taylor and Culley to push scrapers. There is lots of room on the deck of these old tractors! ⁣
