Caption: The origins of the Liebherr R984 go back to the Liebherr R981. This example that lives in a European quarry, is surprisingly still used occasionally. It is fitted with a two-piece boom, popular in Europe at the time, but not so much down in this part of the world. ⁣

In the front, a 1:50 scale CCM Caterpillar D8K with all the goodies, in the centre, a hand-built 1:25 scale Caterpillar D8-14A equipped for towing a hydraulic Cat No.80 scraper, and at the rear, a heavily modified AMT D8 kitset, reworked into a D8H-36A series with a No.25 PCU on the rear. This last model usually tows a Cat No.491 cable scraper. ⁣

Caption: Lovely photo of a British-built Caterpillar D8K-66V series machine about to be delivered to the Walton Hill Landfill in Cheltenham. Even as late as the early 1980s, it was still possible to order a new Cat tractor with the ever reliable No.25 rear PCU. Note the lack of cab, ROPS and the horizontal placement of the muffler⁣
