Sharing pictures from our archives- this is from J Sharing pictures from our archives- this is from June 2024's issue- the profile on the Curtiss-Wright CW-27 and CW-28 scrapers.⁣

Caption: A Wooldridge factory image of a T-70 Cobrette that shows the ‘Roto-Gear’ steering motors clearly at the top of the machine’s articulation hitch.⁣
These were quite advanced for the day – a little too advanced, as they gave a lot of trouble in service. ⁣
The front push-plate for push-loading other scrapers is also well-shown and a concept some 20 years ahead of the idea being adopted by other manufacturers. ⁣

Curtiss-Wright took over the entire Wooldridge range in June 1958 and set about renaming all the former Wooldridge products, thus the T-70 became the CW-27, a nod to the seven cubic yard struck rating of the machine. ⁣

Caption: Pictured in better times is this genuine Wooldridge ‘Terra-Cobra’ motor scraper, one of the flagship machines in the Wooldridge range of equipment before Curtiss-Wright took over, and a predecessor of the CW-27.⁣
As can be seen, it is not particularly pretty and is all cable controlled. ⁣
