⁣
Caption: Clay was really good loading material for elevating scrapers, the more loamy the better. This 623B gets a good load on a slight downhill grade. Door has been removed from the cab to keep the operator cool as this 623B has no aircon.⁣

Caption: One of the first 623B elevating scrapers off the production line awaits delivery to its new owner. Full rear fenders and mud flaps are noteworthy. Fortunately, later on commonsense prevailed and these were removed from production machines and only offered as an option.⁣

Caption: Working in some fairly sticky Illinois clay, this 623 is near new. The photo is dated 1972 and points of note are the lack of ROPS, the open mesh rock guard on the elevator and the full set of rear fenders and mudguards that are fitted. It appears that OSH at the time were more worried about the traffic getting sprayed by mud rather than the machine falling over!⁣

The machine is fitted with standard extra capacity muffler, optional ROPS and the mesh rock guard has been removed from the top of the elevator frame. No 52U series 623’s were imported into New Zealand.⁣

Caption: Quietly rusting away, this 82-50 appears not to have moved in a very long time. It is fitted with the semi-U blade but a non-standard ripper graces the rear end. The cab still appears to be in very good condition though despite the decay elsewhere.⁣
