Caption: Classic Construction Models Caterpillar 633D to 1:50 scale. One of 300 produced by CCM, it is a stunning little model with an external air conditioner on the cab roof, working cushion hitch and masses of other detail. It is number 318 in my ‘fleet’ of miniature 1:50 scale machinery.⁣

Caption: The last version of the Caterpillar 633 to see the light of day was the model 633E series II. It was introduced at a time when scraper sales were on the decline worldwide, and was the last big elevating scraper that Caterpillar has produced to date.⁣
In production from 1996 to 2000, they are a comparatively rare machine. ⁣

Caption: The 633E was a big brute of an elevating scraper and held 34 cubic yards (26 metres) of material. In this configuration, the machine weighed over 51 metric tons empty. As you can see, by this stage of the machine’s development, all manner of safety and other equipment has been added to the basic build.⁣
