J Crooks & Sons is a privately owned hard rock quarrying company that has been in the family for over 70 years. Currently in the capable hands of Mort and David Crooks, the business is located on 100 acres of land on the outskirts of Invercargill. Their core business is the supply of finely ground dunite to the fertiliser industry. Mobile crushing plants also allow them to take on contract jobs for the roading industry.

Mort Crooks is quite pragmatic when it comes to purchasing new equipment and is adamant that the Doosan DL Series Loaders provide great value for money. “When you look at it, this equipment, it’s powered by a Cummins motor, has ZF transmission and has excellent componentry. In my opinion it’s a superior piece of equipment but without the big price tag,” he says.
